Coinnigh do mhisneach_______Feb 7, 2012

These past few months have let me in on a secret.

One that pains me and then brings up from a deep well…..it can be found, taught and felt. This secret is an overwhelming number of people, lacking courage.
While the word ‘lack’ might indicate they are less than, it is their choice not to have any or at worst, they didn’t have to conjure it up…….ever.

How would one teach courage?

Just received a post from a dear childhood friend’s husband. She has been fighting cancer for more than two years. She is a mom, woman of God and incredibly courageous. They are bringing in hospice.

She is a teacher of courage.
Her husband is a teacher of courage.
Their girls are teachers of courage.

It can be taught.

Sometimes we confuse our fathers saying ‘buck up’ to having courage. When we are able to go deep and let ourselves feel that crap we hurl at ourselves ……then listen …….sometimes we must listen really really hard for that quiet voice. This voice is courage.
That crap being hurled might be rock solid truth. It could also be …..crap. Either way, the quiet voice will lead us, and others, if you let it.

Sometimes not fighting is the most courageous gift you can give.

Its important. Write your story.

Keep your courage.

3-17-2012 I love that people want to know how to pronounce ‘to have courage’ in Irish. Coinnigh do mhisneach. Pronunciation: kwinn-ee dhuh vish-nukh
